» Lt Sandoval - TF72's Player of the Month!

Posted on Thu Jan 23rd, 2020 @ 2:55am by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

Greetings all!

I'm very excited to announce that....

Lieutenant John Sandoval has been awarded Task Force 72's Player of the Month!

Sandoval has been part of the crew for well-over a year now (1 year, 3 months to be precise), and was very quickly part of the Pandora family as soon as he stepped onboard. During that time, he has been an active and eager player, who has developed interesting storylines for his characters. He's received many compliments for his posts and I'm always keen to see his next adventures. He's been a conscientious and kind co-writer, and strong contributor to this sim. He is easily one of our core players and we're so very lucky to have him onboard.

It's also been great to see Andrew develop his own multi-award winning sim, the USS Atlantis, and become TFXO of Task Force 93. I've been nominating him for a few months now and I'm so very excited that he's receiving the recognition that he deserves.

You can read the full announcement here and see the other award winners from around Bravo Fleet, including the USS Atlantis winning Sim of the Year for 2019!!

Congratulations Sandoval!

In other updates, I can only apologise profusely for not making a Third Birthday video for the Pandora in December. As I'm sure some will know, it's been a hectic and kinda horrible summer here in Australia and while I've tried to get online as much as possible, our birthday celebrations just didn't happen :( I feel awful and will endeavour to make up for it next year. You guys know how much I love and appreciate each one of you for being here and simming on the Pandora and the fact that we've gone THREE YEARS already is mind-blowing to me still.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

As further compensation, please view this (totally NSFW) Next Gen video that always makes me laugh because I'm a child.

Thanks everyone, let's have an awesome 2020!

» More Awards!

Posted on Tue Aug 20th, 2019 @ 2:00pm by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

The folks at Bravo Fleet have seen fit to award our wonderful crew once more.

Following his presentation as Task Force 72's Player of the Month for June 2019, our Cailus Griffin has been awarded as Bravo Fleet's Player of the Quarter!! You heard that right -

Player of the Quarter!

I can't say enough about how great Griffin is as a player and a writer and I'm so grateful that he's part of the Pandora family. It's absolutely wonderful - and incredibly deserved - for him to be honoured as one of Bravo Fleet's top players. To make it even more incredible, this is actually the second time Griffin has received the recognition, after previously winning for the first quarter in 2017.

You can read the announcement here.

You will also notice that the USS Atlantis was awarded as Bravo Fleet's Sim of the Quarter. The Atlantis is captained by our very own John Sandoval, and has been one of the Fleet's best simulations since it's launch. I'm so happy for our friend that his sim was recognised and I have no doubt the Atlantis will only continue to grow and tell exciting stories into the future.

Secondly, the Bravo Fleet Admiralty have awarded several players from each Task Force (and the BFA itself) to receive the Starfleet Medal of Commendation. The medal is given on August 19th every year in honour of Gene Roddenberry's birthday. I was lucky enough to be one of the recipients for this year's award. The highest honour for me remains serving as your Captain and that will always mean the most to me, but to receive the Medal is a nice bonus.

You can read that announcement and a full list of recipients here.

New mission planning is underway, expect a new trailer soon.

Cheers everyone!

» Lt Griffin - Task Force 72’s Player of the Month

Posted on Mon Jul 22nd, 2019 @ 4:16am by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

Congratulations Griffin!

The monthly Task Force Awards have been announced and it should come as no surprise that our Lieutenant Griffin has once again received recognition as Task Force 72’s Player of the Month.

I wrote the following in his nomination and I think it sums up why he absolutely deserves this award again. He was previously recognised as Player of the Month and Bravo Fleet’s Player of the Quarter in 2017.

Lieutenant Griffin had a mammoth task during this mission – both IC and OOC – to piece together the random, untrustworthy clues left by the players and myself. He had to deal with intentional red-herrings, people lying and keeping secrets, and this elusive, unknown Murderer running rampant around Paradise and Pandora. And despite the challenge set, he has risen above and beyond the call of his position and a normal RP writer; he has always done so with grace and the spirit of fun that the mission required.

To say that he performed his duties would be an understatement; he has helped to carry this mission successfully through to its narrative conclusion and I hold him in the highest regard for his diligence, patience, and skill. It is easy to be impressed by Griffin for the kind of high-calibre writer that he already is – our previous mission in an alternate universe is testament enough to his talents and carefully crafted sense of character – but as a player, he has outdone himself in the past few months and deserves the highest recognition for his achievement.

Congratulations Griffin!

See the full announcement here.

» The Pandora Receives High Recognition

Posted on Sat Apr 6th, 2019 @ 5:37pm by Captain Nycolas Temple in General News

Greetings everyone!

I come today with two bits of very exciting news.

The first, which isn't quite new news to be honest but still wonderful nonetheless. Our gracious Task Force Commanding Officer has awarded the Pandora with the Task Force Participation Medal, due to our contributions to the Inconnu Expanse theatre of operations, and our long-running exploration of the region. This is our second Medal of this title, after previously being awarded in August 2018.

To quote Admiral O'Connell:

"The USS Pandora, one of 72’s longest-standing sims, is our trailblazer in the Inconnu Expanse. Though many ships have entered, none have explored as much as this Luna-class vessel, from settling a border dispute between the Talarians and Tzenkethi, introducing the Ravagers, and now exploring the alien Paradise Outpost."

I am so proud of this sim for the creative energy and strong storytelling that we produce week after week, and you are all so deserving of this recognition from our Task Force leaders. This mission idea that we're running right now, I know, is very different and unique in online RPGs so I am especially grateful that you're all contributing and following this wild ride. I couldn't be prouder to be your CO and all I can say is just keep doing the amazing work that you folks do.

Congratulations!

SECOND news is also super amazing. The Pandora has been selected to join the ranks of Bravo Fleet's Notable Sims status. Essentially, this recognition is for long-running sims who have made significant contributions to Bravo Fleet or their Task Force canon. Of the thousands of sims that have ever started in Bravo Fleet's history, only 75 of them have ever achieved this status. It means we belong to an elite group of simulations who are etched in the history books of this Fleet for the remainder of time, and that our work has been recognised with the highest honour.

The USS Pandora is now immortalised in Bravo Fleet canon. You can view our Notable Sims page here for a history of our missions, background of the ship, previously received awards, and a section listing our long-serving crew members too. The page is still a slight work in progress, as there's a bit more updating to do.

Once again, my deepest congratulations and thanks to you all. It is the players who make this sim what it is, it is the players who keep it going and invest their time and energy into making it work, it is the players who deserve the recognition. Pat yourselves on the back for helping to elevate the Pandora to this status and let's look forward to our continuing journey. We may be a Notable Sim already, but we've got so many more stories to tell.

CONGRATULATIONS PANDORA
